This album feels like an obvious change to me. Obviously, they have a very distinct sound that is their identity as a band, but I feel like that has damned them a bit because they sound like themselves and so the first thought after that is “oh they aren’t doing anything different.” There’s a difference between retaining your sound and not evolving. This is a clear evolution to me. I also feel like the way Paul is singing suits this songs, but that’s just me.
